A manuscript containing what appear to be three separate prose entries, of varying length and subject matter. The first briefly discusses the soul, the second discusses paper money and the paying of clergymen and congressmen, and the third discusses horses whose eyesight is supposedly affected by the moon. There is no known connection between any of these fragments and Whitman's published work. Edward Grier notes that the paper matches that of a manuscript dated 1855 or earlier, suggesting a similar date for this manuscript (
