Heavily revised draft of approximately seven lines of the poem "Thanks in Old Age,"
which was first published on 24 November 1887 in the Philadelphia
Press
. It was reprinted in the New York
World
on 23 November 1890 under the title "Walt Whitman's Thanksgiving" and in the so-called deathbed edition of
Leaves of Grass
(1891–92) under its original title. This manuscript has been pasted to a backing sheet and no image of the verso is available.
