I have the honor to transmit herewith the account, approved by me, and amounting to Fifteen hundred dollars, ($1500:) of J. Hubley Ashton, Esq. for services as special counsel to assist the Attorney General, in cases in Supreme Court of the United States, at December term, 1867; and to request its payment out of the appropriation for defraying the expenses of suits in which the United States are concerned under the Act of March 2, 1867.
