February 11, 1869. Hon. Jno. H. Clifford, New Bedford, Mass. Sir: By direction of the Attorney General, I transmit herewith a check on the Assistant Treasurer at New York for Twenty-five hundred dollars ($2500:) in payment of your acc't for services "in re Jeff Davis," presented under date of Jan'y 26, 1869.
