July 23, 1869. Hon. Geo. S. Boutwell, Secretary of the Treasury, Sir: Your letter of the 8th instant, requesting to be furnished with a copy of correspondence between my predecessor, Mr. Evarts, and C. H. Silienthal, of New York, relating to a deposit of U. S. Bonds, in the Ocean National Bank, has been received. I am directed by the Attorney General to say, that, after an examination of the files and books of this office, no such correspondence could be found. Very Respectfully, your obedient servant, W. F.
