August 11, 1869. Hon. Hamilton Fish, Secretary of State. Sir: I have the honor to transmit herewith a letter from J. W. Gurley, Esq., acting U. S. Attorney at New Orleans, enclosing a statement from U. S. Commissioner Augustin, in the matter of the German brig "Sadowa"— which I will thank you to return to this Office after perusal. Very respectfully, W. A. Field, Acting Attorney General.
