September 22, 1869. Hon. R. H. Dana, Jr. Boston, Mass. Sir: Enclosed you will find a draft on the Treasury of the United States for One thousand and nine hundred dollars, ($1900:) in full for bill rendered of Two thousand dollars ($2000:) less income tax, ($100,) for services in the prosecution of Jefferson Davis by the Government. Please acknowledge its receipt. Very respectfully E. R. Hoar, Attorney General.
