June 7, 1871. H. S. Hyatt, Esq. Washington, D. C. Sir: In reply to your letter of the 6th instant, I have to inform you that the files of this Department do not show that any such opinion as that referred to by you has been rendered by the Attorney General. Very respectfully, &c. B. H. Bristow, Solicitor General. and Acting Attorney General.
