Dec. 14, 1871. George H. Sharpe, Esq. U. S. Marshal, New York, Sir: I have received your letter of the 13th instant. In reply I have to inform you that the Secretary of the Treasury has given instructions to the Collector of the Customs of New York to admit free of duty the four (4) cases of books called for by the enclosed circular, as per his letter to this Department of yesterday.
