Dec. 15, 1871. Albert H. Horton, Esq. U. S. Attorney, Atchison, Kansas. Sir: In pursuance of the request of the Postmaster General, (a copy of whose letter is herewith transmitted,) and of the direction of the President therein expressed, you will consent to the release of Charles H. Hayden indicted in your District for robbery of the mails, upon the performance of the conditions expressed in said letter. Very respectfully, A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
