Sir:

You are hereby appointed Assistant to the U. S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee at a compensation of $1500 per annum.

This appointment is to take effect on the 10th day of January, 1872.

You will take and transmit to this office the oath required of District Attorneys.
