Huntsville, Ala.

Sir:

The President has referred to me your letter of the 28th ult. enclosing the statement of Samuel Horton in reference to outrages perpetrated upon himself.

I suggest that you advise Mr. Horton to make known the circumstances to John A. Minnis, Esq., at Montgomery, the U. S. Attorney for your District.
