Aug. 8, 1871. Hon. Columbus Delano, Secretary of the Interior. Sir: In pursuance of your wishes expressed to me orally to-day, I have addressed to Mr. Davis, the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota, a letter, a copy of which is enclosed, directing his appearance for Harriman, in the suits for timber cut on Government lands. Very respectfully, A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
