Sept. 9, 1871. Hon. W. W. Belknap, Secretary of War. Sir: I have the honor herewith to transmit for your information a copy of a letter received at this Department from Warner M. Bateman, Esq. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, in relation to the supposed fraudulent vouchers of Bot. Lt. Col. Thos. B. Hunt, A. Q. M. which were the subject of your letter to me of May 25th, and of the letter of Mr. Potts, Chief Clerk of the War Department, to the Solicitor General, of June 12th, last. Very respectfully, &c. A.
