Sept. 14, 1871. Hon. J. F. Hartley, Acting Secretary of the Treasury. Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 13th instant, and, in reply, to inform you that, in accordance with your request, I have this day drawn a requisition on the Judiciary Fund for the sum of $325.25, in favor of the Treasurer of the U.S., to be by him credited in his general account as a deposit by Isaac H. Parrish, Clerk of the District Court of the U.S. for the Western District of Michigan, for Stephen D. Loring, Captain 3d Michigan Volunteers, on account of "two and three years Volunteers."
