Secretary of War.

Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 16th inst. transmitting for the use of the Assistant Attorney General in the Court of Claims, three original papers in the case of Mervin N. Jones.

I have made arrangements whereby these papers, and such as hereafter may be called for, will be photographed; copies of which will be transmitted to your Department, as requested.

The originals will in all cases be returned to you as soon as the necessity for their retention by this Department ceases.
