Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 19th instant, enclosing copies of instructions from the Chief of Engineers and Surgeon General to officers of their respective Bureaus, directing them to render to Richard Crowley, Esq. U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York the assistance asked for in his letter to this Department of the 9th instant.
