Secretary of War.

Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 16th instant, transmitting for the use of the Assistant Attorney General at the Court of Claims certain papers found among the rebel archives relative to the case of Mervin N. Jones.

As requested by you, I have caused these papers to be photographed, and herewith enclose such photographic copies. The originals have been sent to the officer for whom they were requested.
