Sir: I am directed by the Presdient to request you to issue a Commission appointing William Spence, Esq. to be Marshal of the United States for the Middle District of Tennessee—in place of T. J. Harrison, deceased. Very respectfully, B. H. Bristow, Solicitor General & Acting Attorney General.
