Nov. 7, 1871.

Hon. Geo. S. Boutwell,

Secretary of the Treasury.

Sir:

I think it my duty to transmit for your information the copy of an unofficial letter which I have just received from Andrew Sloan, Esq. Assistant district Attorney in Georgia, in relation to the indictment against Mr. Robb, the Collector at Savannah.

Mr. Sloan is a man of intelligence and integrity, and I fully rely on his statements.

Very respectfully,

A. T. Akerman,

Attorney General.
