Nov. 28, 1871.
Hon. Geo. S. Boutwell,
Secretary of the Treasury.
I have the honor to say, in reply to your letter of the 24th inst. calling attention to the delay of Mr. Webb, U.S. Attorney for Maine, to attend to the matter of title to land at Castine, proposed to be sold to the United States by Mr. C. J. Abbott, that Mr. Webb has been directed to act promptly in the matter, and to explain his failure to do so before.
Very respectfully, &c.
A. T. Akerman,
title to land at Castine Me.
