Dec. 18, 1871. Hon. Joseph Holt, Judge Advocate General. Sir: The enclosed paper from the President referes to a case which, according to a memorandum in our pardon records, was referred to you, March 31st, 1871. The conviction having been by a Court Martial, I therefore this paper to you, with the request that you will communicate with the President upon the subject. Very respectfully, &c. A. T.
