Dec. 20, 1871. Hon. John Taffe, Chairman Com. on Terr. H. of R. Sir: I enclose a copy of a communication just received at this Department from George C. Bates, Esq. U.S. Attorney for Utah, and respectfully call your attention to the importance of proceeding by legislation for funds to carry on the Courts of Utah. Very respectfully, &c. A. T.
