Starry Union

See! See! see! how where the sun is blazing streaming beaming!
See! See! see! all the bright stars shining gleaming!
North, or South, or Westward in order beaming moving loving
all Equal all Including, folding,
Union all! O its Union all!
O its all for one each, & one each for all!
leaf 1 verso

This manuscript was written in 1876.
Editorial note
"Starry Union" was never published in Whitman's lifetime, though several different draft forms exist. A revision of these lines appears in the unpublished manuscript poem entitled "Hands Ro[und]."
On the verso is a letter from F. H. Mann requesting Whitman's autograph, dated 11 February 1876.
