COVER: Two covers exist, one with blank front and back covers and
another with "The Canterbury / Poets/ [birds and flowers] / [goldstamped
background with raised single-rule frame around 'WHITMAN', both in relief
and within an ornate blackstamped frame]" on the front and on the back
a blindstamped triple-rule frame with floretlike design in each corner.
SPINE: First cover has a spine which reads, within a single-rule
red frame, "The Poems / of / WALT / WHITMAN. / With / Prefatory Notice.
/ Edited by / ERNEST RHYS." Second has two lines in gothic: "Whitman's
/ Poems [in relief]" with flowers and vines designs.
MISC: One binding has laid or wove endpapers, issued uncut, another
has no flyleaves with dark brown endpapers coated on one side with all
edges trimmed and staind red.
