The following manuscripts are housed in the University of Virginia's Valentine-Barrett collection and are reproduced with permission.
While they also appear in the comprehensive listings of all available poetry manuscripts, the following group of manuscripts warrants its own separate listing. These manuscripts, commonly known as the "Live Oak, with Moss" sequence, were originally untitled, though headed with roman numberals I - XII. Whitman revised the poems and split them up prior to their publication in 1860 as part of the much-expanded "Calamus" cluster. They are listed below by first line, in the order of those original roman numberals.
