1. William Hale White (1831–1913) was a British writer and civil servant who sometimes published under the pen name Mark Rutherford. In 1880, White wrote a review of Whitman's Two Rivulets titled "The Genius of Walt Whitman." See the letter from White to Whitman of March 21, 1880[back]
