            <p>I take this <choice><sic>oppertuneity</sic><corr>opportunity</corr></choice> of <choice><sic>giveing</sic><corr>giving</corr></choice> you this as an excuse for not <choice><sic>comeing</sic><corr>coming</corr></choice> up to see you again before <choice><sic>Leveing</sic><corr>leaving</corr></choice> the city. on the same evening I was taken with a very severe <choice><sic>Chill</sic><corr>chill</corr></choice> and the morning I was so sick that I could not think of staying in the city an hour longer. I come home and have been sick <choice><sic>every</sic><corr>ever</corr></choice> since. My arm has come out in a sore <choice><sic>were</sic><corr>where</corr></choice> one of the balls struck it it is so bad that it gives me much pain that I <choice><orig>cant</orig><reg>can't</reg></choice> rest but the Dr thinks it will

be well again soon Father is very sick at this time.</p>

            <p>Uncle if I were to send you an <choice><sic>aplication</sic><corr>application</corr></choice> for a position in the <choice><sic>Interior</sic><corr>Interior</corr></choice> Department with recommendation will you please put them in for me and see the <choice><abbr>Asst.</abbr><expan>Assistant</expan></choice> Secretary &amp; urge him to give me a <choice><sic>posison</sic><corr>position</corr></choice> I have some <choice><sic>recomdation</sic><corr>recommendation</corr></choice> from Curtain of Pa &amp; my Captain. I will stop with the hope of hearing from you soon.</p>
