Walt Whitman
My old time friend

Do you ever think of the boy that you found sick in the winter of '62 in Ward A of Judiciary Sqr. Hospital in Washington? If so, in memory of old Washington experiences together will you send me a volume of your "Leaves of Grass" with your name written in it?

I shall be very glad to hear from you

Cordially
Albert G. Knapp
