We wish to inform you that the last work of the Rev. Edward Everett Hale2 of Boston viz: "The Life of Christopher Columbus"3 from his own writings has just been issued by us, and we intend to place the same upon the markets throughout the United States

Mr Hale is the author of many literary works and all of recognized merit, but if unsolicited press criticisms can be considered as a criticism by which the present work can be judged it surpasses all previous efforts of the writer. In short Mr Hale is an educated American, has written a splendid book an opportune time, its rapid sale is therefore assured

The Union Veteran Publishing Company of Chicago, Illinois, published historical, biographical, and genealogical works. In addition to Edward Everett Hale's biography of Columbus, the company published Soldiers' and Patriots' Biographical Album(1892), which featured Civil War biographies and portraits.
