Frederic R. Marvin to Walt Whitman, 22 July 1875

 loc_nk.00509_large.jpg Walt Whitman Dear Sir,

I am preparing a book to be called "Songs of the Mystics" and I wish to insert a poem from you, all your poems have to me an air of mysticism and of realism which make it difficult to choose between them. Will you choose for me? I greatly admire your "A Word out of the Sea" but it is not appropriate.

Very Truly and Respectfully Frederic R. Marvin.
