Maggie Pepper Van Reed Biddle was a native of Pennsylvania and married Noble T. Biddle (1840–1902), a lawyer, in 1865. They lived in Elkton, Maryland, and then moved to San José, California, in 1881, where Mr. Biddle became a prominent attorney.
