June 29, 1867. Hon. George Boutwell, Ch'n. pro. tem. Jud. Com. H. of R. Sir: In accordance with your request, I have the honor to transmit herewith a copy of my letter of January 16th, 1867, to J. D. Smith, Esq. U. S. Attorney, for the Northern District of Alabama, directing him to dismiss proceedings against the property of C. C. Clay. Very Respectfully, &c Henry Stanbery, Attorney General.
