Feb. 18, 1869. Hon. Hugh McCulloch, Secretary of the Treasury. Sir: I have the honor to enclose a a declaration & agreement on the part of the Union Pacific RR. Co. duly executed by its officers, under authority from the Company, embodying the arrangement upon which a deposit of the first mortgage bonds of the Company was required from it as a guarantee for the completion of its road, its structure and equipments, as required by law. This instrument is in the form required & approved by me. I have the honor to be, &c. &c. &c Wm. M. Evarts, Attorney Gen.
