December 24, 1869. M. S. Norman, Esq. Baltimore, Md. Sir: In accordance with the request contained in your letter to the Attorney General of the 23d inst., I transmit herewith a letter directed to you, and dated August 17, 1861, from George W. Jefferson, private Secretary, which I presume is the paper to which you refer. Very respectfully, W. A. Field, Acting Attorney General
