Sir:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 28th instant, and accompanying papers, relative to the collection of certain moneys due to the United States, and payable to the agent of the Freedmen's Bureau at Charleston, S.C.—and to inform you that the papers, together
with a copy of your letter, have been transmitted to the Attorney of the United States for the District of South Carolina, with instructions to institute the proper proceedings for the collection of said moneys. The report of the Attorney in the matter will be submitted to you, when received.
