January 13, 1871. Hon. D. H. Chamberlain, Attorney General of South Carolina. Sir: I have received your letter of the 9th instant, and in reply inform you that if the statistics of crime, &c., are forwarded by the 15th instant, they will reach me in time for my Annual Report to Congress.
