March 11, 1871. Mr. W. U. Reichert, Detroit, Mich. Sir: I have received your letter of the 7th instant. I am not aware of any law of the United States on the subject of "Marriage Intercession Officers." I am not informed whether there are any provisions in the State laws upon the subject.
