Thanks for the books, (three) wh' have arrived, & will be treasured. When in Phila. come over here & see me—I have a copy of Leaves of Grass for you—(would mail it if I knew the right address)2

Andrew Carnegie (1835–1919), the prominent industrialist and admirer of Whitman, had donated twice to the support of the aged poet.
