MEDAL FOR THE WATER CELEBRATION.—

We yesterday were shown the impression of a medal to commemorate the introduction of water in Brooklyn. The obverse presents a figure of Aquarius, with the legend, "Nassau Water Works, Commenced July 31, 1856." The reverse, the Pump House at Ridgewood, with the inscription, "Water introduced Dec. 18, 1858; Celebrated April, 1859." The execution of the work is of the finest description. Indeed this cannot be otherwise, when we know that the artists are Messrs F. B. SMITH and HARTMANN. These gentlemen cut the dies for the Hernden medal, ordered by the State of Virginia, and allowed by all judges to be the rarest piece of art ever done in this country.
