SUN STRUCK.—

Two laborers employed in laying water pipes, named John Eagan1 and Patrick Hays, were prostrated by the heat on Saturday afternoon. They were taken to the City Hospital2 and recovered yesterday, sufficiently to go to their homes.

Notes:

1. Possibly John Eagan (1820–1898) who was a delegate of the 9th Ward of Brooklyn. [back]

2. Due to the need for an emergency medical institution, the Brooklyn City Hospital was formed by the state legislator in 1845. It was later renamed the Brooklyn Hospital and is still active today as the Brooklyn Hospital Center. This might be where the two laborers were taken to. [back]
