THE WATER CELEBRATION.—

Alderman Pierson’s resolutions last evening were decidedly premature. Let Ald. McNamee’s committee go on and construct a fountain in the City Hall Park, and another on the corner of Fourth and South 6th streets, and then have the celebration simultaneously with the opening of these fountains. The permanent engine not being up, and the contractors having neither finished their work nor received their money, it would simply be preposterous to order a celebration now.
