THE WATER WORKS INVESTIGATING COMMITTEE.—

In our account of the proceedings of the Common Council Special Committee on the Water Works, we attributed the appointment of it to the prior Engineers' investigating instituted by the Commissioners. It appears, however, that the Common Council Committee was first appointed; hence the presumption is the other way—that the Commissioners called for the Board of Engineers' investigation, in consequence of the investigation already ordered by the Board of Aldermen.
