THE WATER SUPPLY.—

Our Eastern District citizens, though not so largely of Dutch extraction as those of the Western District, appear to be more largely gifted with the proverbial slowness of the Hollanders. It has been widely announced that the water supply is on the very eve of introduction, and yet not a single application has hitherto been made from this district for the introduction of the water into houses. In the other district there have been already 86 applications received. The mains are now being laid in First street, which completes the junction between the reservoir and the Eastern District. Who wants the water? Come forward, gentlemen, with some applications.
