MANLY GAMES.—CONTEST BETWEEN THE ECKFORD AND ATLANTIC BASE BALL CLUBS.—

We are glad to perceive that our people are paying more attention than heretofore to the importance of invigorating exercise in the open air as a conservator of health. In this connection, we look upon the extensive introduction of the game of base-ball into the list of amusements among our young men as being in the highest degree beneficial. Every body who can spare the time and who have a due regard for their health, should join a Base-Ball club and partake of the salutary effects of that manly game.

Yesterday a game was played at the grounds of the Eckford Club, at the Manor House, between the "Eckfords" and the Atlantic Club, in which the latter were victorious. The following are the figures:

Atlantic. Eckford.

The game was a very exciting one. There were a large number of spectators on the ground and great interest was manifested. The Eckfords did admirably well, considering that they are a young club, while the Atlantics are veterans in the sport and a "crack" club at that.
