☞Miss Sewall,1 the British authoress, has, for years, labored with her pen in the Isle of Wight, to retrieve her father’s bankruptcy and free his memory from the stigma of debt. She has thus toiled meekly, patiently, conscientiously; and in view of the good influence her writings have exerted in the United States, and the comparatively small remuneration she received, it was proposed a few months since, to open a subscription for her benefit. Every reader of “Amy Herbert,” “Ivors” and “Ursula” will agree with us in the hearty wish that it may yield her a generous pecuniary return.
