[We are now in midsummer]

WE ARE now in midsummer, and for a few days past the weather has been very pleasant. But September is the month in which epidemics usually make their appearance, and every care should be taken, not only by the health department of our city, but by the citizens generally, to keep everything in a healthy condition. As "a stitch in time will save nine," so may the exercise of prudence at the present moment, and until the arrival of the coming frosts of October, save a vast deal of misery and suffering. We would enjoin then upon all persons the necessity of co-operating with the proper officers of the city in their efforts to preserve the general health. Lime should be used freely in all cellars and yards, and also in lanes and alleys. Take precautions!
