THE WORLD OF MIND. An elementary book. By Isaac Taylor, Author of “Wesley and Methodism.” New York: Harper & Brothers.

To the neophyte in intellectual Philosophy, who desires that his progress shall be both sure and rapid, this volume peculiarly commends itself. It is an amplification of the same author’s “Elements of Thought,” and it is the fruit of the leisure moments and hours of many thoughtful years. Such subjects only are introduced as might be presented apart from controversial references to books, and this arrangement has made it possible to condense a large amount of substantial information into a volume of small compass and accessible to all. The author’s plan of arrangement is lucid and comprehensive, and those who will follow it out in detail, with the careful attention it deserves, cannot fail to acquire an insight into the workings of mind, such as in the ordinary course of study would cost the labor of years.
