DR. ROBINSON'S LECTURES ON GEOLOGY.—

The first of this series of lectures was delivered last evening at the Odeon, to an audience of very fair size, considering the unsettled state of the weather. The evening was taken up principally by explanations of the theory of the formation of the earth, it central fires, volcanoes, &c., illustrated by the diagrams and paintings usual to science and geology. A large painting of Niagra Falls elicited much commendation, and was certainly a very fine picture. The lecturer announced, as his subject for next Friday evening, the formation of the different strata of the earth, mines &c., and particularly gold mines. We shall speak of these lectures more particularly hereafter.
