GOOD NEWS!—

Dr. E. H. DIXON, the fearless and accomplished editor of the Scalpel, announces that after the 1st of January next, his publication will be issued monthly in quarto form, at $1 per year, or 10 cents a number.1 This most pleasing intelligence will be hailed with eminent satisfaction by all who desire to know how to live. Dr. D. has during the last eight years expended $16,000 in the Scalpel, and received in return $14,000. Notwithstanding this deficiency, which he has met from the income of his professional labors his enterprise is about to reach us in a more acceptable form. In taking up the quarterly we have often exclaimed, "Why cannot we have such food as this more frequently!" The wish will soon be gratified; and we hope that the Scalpel may take the place of all electioneering documents. No female should acknowledge its absence from her table—no household can be fully enlightened without its aid.
